Hi, I have a MacOS Catalina 10.15.4 and when trying to install TS4TI, I click to open it comes up with the error “The application “Sims4TrayImporter” can’t be opened.
I have tried everything I can, even downloaded mono and tried commands on Terminal which don’t seem to be working. Can someone please help?

Hello @pmcass,

Apple require all apps to be code signed, which can only be done from a Mac and the dev license is not free, but I can't afford both of them.
Signing the app would get rid of that peculiar issue. 😕

The only workaround is to do what your Mac is doing behind the scene by manually applying the executable bit so the launcher can open.

All of this info can be found on the Apple Support site. 😉

To open S4TI on your Mac, try this:

  • Make sure to rename the extracted app to 'Sims4TrayImporter.app' if it was renamed to something like 'Sims4TrayImporter(1).app'.
If file extensions are hidden '.app' won't be displayed at the end of the filename, so make sure it's named 'Sims4TrayImporter'.
Additional information: Show or hide filename extensions on Mac.
  • Move S4TI in your Applications folder.
  • Open Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app.
    In Terminal, type:
    chmod +x "/Applications/Sims4TrayImporter.app/Contents/MacOS/Sims4TrayImporter"
    or
    chmod +x "~/Applications/Sims4TrayImporter.app/Contents/MacOS/Sims4TrayImporter"
    And press Enter.
If you get an error, try the latter. *Some users have also reported that running the command twice seems to fix the open issue.
  • Once you have successfully applied the chmod trick, do Cmd+Double-click on Sims4TrayImporter.app to open S4TI for the first launch.

So do I just go into applications, right click Sims4TrayImporter and then click rename and rename it to Sims4TrayImporter.app? Or do I rename it a different way.

@pmcass You just need to rename the app if it was renamed something like 'Sims4TrayImporter(1).app', else it should be fine.

If extensions are hidden it will appear as 'Sims4TrayImporter(1)', so you just rename it 'Sims4TrayImporter'.

Edit: Updated the info in my previous post.

Hi, I have entered these commands in a terminal window several times and nothing happens when I do...I have gone back to click on the app to open it (using control or right-clicking) but keep getting an error saying it cannot be opened.

Look here: FAQ - Troubleshooting (MacOS) - Aide - LuniverSims

Then here [Application]Sims 4 Tray Importer for Mac - Page 7 - Aide - LuniverSims

Also, @twmuse is of great help on Mac. 😉

You want to switch the site to English?

On top-rigth of each page you can click the American flag to change the language to English.

Or

Go to the bottom of the page then click Langue (Language), the select English US.

Yep, our Discord is mainly only in French. Not sure how foreign languages are handled. 🤔
But we do have a section dedicated to Tray Importer where the language doesn't matter. I'll answer anyway! 😉

Hello,

I'm trying to install TrayImporter on a Mac with macOs Ventura installed, and I cannot open the app. I get the message as shown on the screenshot in the comment above:

"The application "TraylmporterEtoApp.Mac" can't be opened."

I have tried all the guides that I can find on this page and none of it works.

Can anyone help?
