If you have trouble running S4TI on your Mac, look below if the question has already been answered.

 

 

First thing to try if S4TI refuse to open:

Révélation

• Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General
• Look at the bottom of the screen, you should see a message saying that "Tray Importer" have been blocked and an "Open Anyway" button next to it.
• Click Open Anyway to allow S4TI to open.

 

 

Q: The Application "Sims4TrayImporter" can't be opened

A: Apple require all apps to be code signed (notarized), which can only be done from a Mac and an Apple dev license is not free.
 

The only workaround is to do what your Mac is doing behind the scene by manually applying the executable bit so the launcher can open.

 

Note: If you have an older version of MacOS (Sierra or older), try Cmd+Double-click on Sims4TrayImporter.app, this should be enough to unlock it.

 

Simplified steps:

New version (TrayImporterEtoApp.Mac.app)

• Right-click on TrayImporterEtoApp.Mac.app and select New Terminal at Folder
  or
  Select TrayImporterEtoApp.Mac.app in Finder, then Finder>Services>New Terminal at Folder
• In the terminal, type: chmod +x "Contents/MacOS/S4TI_launcherMac", then press Enter
  Note: If you receive an error, check that you have entered the correct command.
• Start the app.
  Note: You may need to Cmd+Double-click on the app for the first launch.

Old version (Sims4TrayImporter.app)

Révélation

• Right-click on Sims4TrayImporter.app and select New Terminal at Folder
  or
  Select Sims4TrayImporter.app in Finder, then Finder>Services>New Terminal at Folder

• In the terminal, type: chmod +x "Contents/MacOS/Sims4TrayImporter", then press Enter
  Note: If you receive an error, check that you have entered the correct command.

• Start the app.
  Note: You may need to Cmd+Double-click on the app for the first launch.

 

To open S4TI on your Mac, try this:

New version (TrayImporterEtoApp.Mac.app)

• Make sure to rename the extracted app to 'TrayImporterEtoApp.Mac.app' if it was renamed to something like 'TrayImporterEtoApp.Mac 2.app'.
  If file extensions are hidden '.app' won't be displayed at the end of the filename, so make sure it's named 'TrayImporterEtoApp.Mac.app'.
  Additional information: Show or hide filename extensions on Mac.
• Move S4TI in your Applications folder.
• Open Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app.
  In Terminal, type:
  chmod +x "/Applications/TrayImporterEtoApp.Mac.app/Contents/MacOS/S4TI_launcherMac"
  or
  chmod +x "~/Applications/TrayImporterEtoApp.Mac.app/Contents/MacOS/S4TI_launcherMac"
  And press Enter.
  If you get an error, try the latter. *Some users have also reported that running the command twice seems to fix the open issue.
• Once you have successfully applied the chmod trick, do Cmd+Double-click on Sims4TrayImporter.app to open S4TI for the first launch.

Old version (Sims4TrayImporter.app)

Alternative steps:

• Open Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app.
• Type chmod +x then press Space.
• Open Finder and locate where you have extracted Tray Importer.
  • Right-click on Tray Importer and select Show Package Contents.
  • Open Contents, then MacOS.
  • Inside MacOS, select then drag S4TI_launcherMAC (or Sims4TrayImporter if you still have an old version) on Terminal.
• Back to Terminal, you should now have something like this chmod +x "~/Downloads/Sims4TrayImporter.app/Contents/MacOS/S4TI_launcherMAC".
  Press Enter to validate the command.

 

Q: "Sims4TrayImporter" cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified

Révélation

A: Gatekeeper is blocking the app from opening to protect your Mac.

Make sure you have downloaded the app from the original source then:

• Hold Command and Double-click on Sims4TrayImporter.app
  or
  Hold Command and Right-click on Sims4TrayImporter.app then select Open from the menu.
