[Guide] Sims 4 Tray Importer for macOS Sierra

Hi, I need major help. I tried a million times to reinstall mono AND the sims 4 tray importer and it doesn't work at all. Every time I try to open the Tray Importer it says "The application can't be opened."

I tried your "application not open" link suggestion and that does nothing. I'm using macOS Sierra version 10.12.6.

Hi @emylacy, have you tried this  

 

On Sierra you must allow apps from unknown source to run. Watch the video on the post.

You can also try to run it through the terminal.

 

*Be cautious when posting images that contains private information.

I did, I tried to watch every install tutorial for Mac computers on youtube. None helped my problem. I also tried the terminal suggestion and that also didn't work

Also, what private information did I share? lolol

There was a Serial Number at the bottom of the screenshot. Not sure if it is really private, but better not take a chance.

Yes, I tried that too. I think i just have to accept the fact that there's no way for me to use it for some reason :\

Did you receive an error during the chmod command?

If so, check the path or try putting sudo before chmod.

 

 

Else try to clean everything by removing S4TI and Mono.

 

Downloads the latest version of Mono from here.

- Run the installer package.

 

Downloads the latest version of S4TI from here.

- Extract it then move it to /Applications

 

 

If you still receive the "Can't be opened", you'll need to find why it still not register as executable.

When I try terminal, it asks me for my password and i enter it in. After that, it says theres no file location or whatever for the sims 4 tray importer app

@emylacy Are you trying the chmod command with sudo?

Yes it may ask for admin password.

STEPS:
1. Open a terminal
2. Here are the commands:
cd
cd Applications
cd Sims4TrayImporter.app
cd Contents/MacOS

chmod +x Launcher
or
chmod +x *

if it doesn't work, try with sudo

sudo chmod +x Launcher
or
sudo chmod +x *

 

Note: * will patch all files in the current folder.

One can even do it remotely with a program. 

 

Where it hang and what is the error?

I just updated, and it's still not working. Every time I try and open a household that I saved after the patch update, the entire thing quits. Someone please help!

Unfortunatly, if even this version doesn't work you will have to wait for version 2.0 or try to run the Windows version through Wine or alike.

Yes it't that version. Every time I click on a Sim that I saved to my library after the update the entire thing quits itself. And when I click on a Sim that was in my library before the update, it doesn't quit, but doesn't show any of the custom content on them. The section is just blank.

@madisonxox There are two versions, you must download Sims4TrayImporter_20170930_novfix.zip to get the fixed version.

I only patched some files so that it works with the November update, but I cannot update it since the build is broken. 

 

If it does not works, try to run it as admin which should remove some restrictions on the unattended file versions caused by the quick fix.
