OK yes that does fix it, and just FYI the experimental installer does work without needing the chmod trick

Probably because the installer also seems to be an updater.

Hi, I downloaded S4TI, I'm in 'Security and Privacy', and it doesn't say Tray importer but says "Rogue Amoeba Software." Do you know if that is what I am supposed to allow for it to open? I tried the terminal command, but nothing happened when I clicked on the application.

@supanova1111 From Google, "Rogue Amoeba Software" seems to be an audio recording tool, so definitively not.

Try this:
- Right-Click Sims4TrayImporterEtoApp.app, then select Show Package Contents
- Browse to Contents/MacOS

- Locate S4TI_launcherMac

- Open Terminal and type chmod +x  (don't forget the space after +x)
- Drag S4TI_launcherMac in the terminal window
- Press Enter

- The launcher icon should now look like as a terminal

 

Also, have you tried if it works without doing all this with the installer?

I tried it, but it asked for my password but wouldn't let me type it in, so it said my credentials were invalid. I had tray importer up until now I'm not sure why it's not working or showing up for me to allow it. Should I just delete it and try again?

@supanova1111 Have you installed the .NET Runtime 6.0 too?
Presuming the chmod was successful, if you try to run the file S4TI_launcherMac in terminal (right-click>Open with>Terminal), you should be able to see the error preventing S4TI from opening.

.NET Runtime is required for this new version to work, which you can get here: Download .NET 6.0 Runtime (v6.0.36) - macOS x64 Installer

 

Download S4TI, you can chose your preferred installation method (with or without installer):

1. The first one, don't have an installer, just require a double-click to extract.
   TrayImporterEtoApp.Mac-Publish-20250312.zip (no installer)
2. The second one, the installer, will install in Applications by default, but if a previous installation is found it will update that version instead.
   TrayImporterEtoApp.Mac-20250312-installer.zip (experimental installer)

Both may require to run chmod +x <FULLPATHTOS4TI>/Contents/MacOS/S4TI_launcherMac in Terminal.

 

Advantage of the installer, it will remember the chmod was applied from a previous installation and you won't need to apply it again, unless the app stops working. (To be confirmed)

edit: okay, so I just go back to that original post? (I see it says 1.25) so follow the same steps I just had the wrong file? I tried others but it just stopped appearing so I went back to the file I knew for the app. Hope that's not confusing. I'm confusing myself at this point. lol

Right-click on the app then select Get Info, there you should be able to get the version.

Yes, that was just the wrong file, try with the newer one.
For simplicity, the version always contains the year and the month, so 1.25.3 was released in March 2025.
