having issues downloading mono app for trayimporter on my mac

Hi, I am hoping someone can help me. My mac will not download sims4trayimporter onto my mac for starters, so I went to make sure to download the mono app first. but every time I finish installing it, (it says the installation went through), no mono app pops up and it's nowhere to be found on my computer. on mono's downloading website they even have 2 options to download from, a blue button or a grey button. I tried downloading from both and still it does the same thing. all I am left with is the MonoFramework-MDK-6.12.0.macos10.xamarin.universal.pkg file on my computer...and when you click on that, it brings me back to the installation process all over again.

 

any ideas of what I am missing here, thanks!

Mono is not an app but a framework that must be installed, that means you wont see any Mono App icon, except maybe the uninstall one.

It's required to run non native apps on platforms like Linux and MacOS.

An app that require Mono will refuse to run or crash if Mono is not installed.

 

You can check that Mono is installed by running « mono --version » in a terminal window.

 

So if you went through the package installer, Mono should now be installed and S4TI should be able to run.

But since S4TI is not notarized, you may need to apply the chmod trick to fix the missing executable attribute on the launcher.

To apply the chmod trick,
- make sure S4TI app was extracted from the zip archive (double-click on the zip file)
- right-click on S4TI app and select New Terminal at folder in the menu

- in the terminal window run the following command:
  chmod +x Contents/MacOS/Sims4TrayImporter

Now double-click on the app to open it.
