I couldn't tell whether or not I downloaded the correct file for my mac, and when i tried to open it, it just said "application cannot be opened". it didn't even give me an option to 'open with'. sorry, i've just been trying to install it and make it work for the past hour.

never mind! i got it to work. FINALLY. for anyone else having this issue, i downloaded this updated version of the S4TI from this reddit link: https://www.reddit.com/r/thesimscc/comments/18zdcsr/s4ti/  (the one duomaxwell003 posted). and then i watched this video on youtube: https://youtu.be/57uhat4kJaQ?feature=shared  and that's how i finally got it to work for me! hope this helps anyone else who has this issue.
